The wonders of mordern technology. It brings people together, regardless of language, race, religion and even distance! Why do I say so? Ivy and I got to know each other through the wonderful Internet. In July 2007, we started exchanging emails. But lacking a computer at home, we both needed to get to a net cafe to check our mails, but we kept at it. At last, we decided to exchange mobile phone numbers. Thus, we started to SMS and call each other. Everyday.
We decided to put things into the next stage... meeting face to face. It all happened on May 30th 2008. When I first landed at Kota Kinabalu International Airport. I was very nervous. As I walked through the gate, there my Darling greeted me with a big wave and a smile. It was refreshing as I was a bit tired from the 2 hour flight in a small aircraft.
It all went well. We chatted and went out for movies.. strolls along the beaches.. We both felt a bit sad when it was time for me to leave. But we both knew... we will be seeing each other more frequently.. and very soon.
Time went by... We took turns to fly to visit each other. We went to many places of interest in both of our hometowns. More phone calls.. more SMS... more flights...
In April 2009, we were sure we want to make it last... and the only way is to reduce the distance between us,,, even more. Ivy and me decided that the next logical move is, her moving to Johor Bahru. And so she did. Thus our lives changed.
During 21st September 2009, I planned a trip to Bukit Tinggi in Pahang. I knew she loved the nature, gardens and the cool air. What she didnt know was, I was planning a surprise for her – a PROPOSAL!
So, everything was planned. Hotel booked. Together with my sister and her friend, the four of us drove to Bukit Tinggi. I kept running through the proposal plan in my head, making sure that I had all the details taken care of. On that night itself, I book a table at a nice French restaurant up on Bukit Tinggi. The food was great! And with all my courage, I whipped out the ring and walked over to her side of the table. Knelt down and said: Darling... Will you marry me?
She smiled and said YES!!! Although I could tell she was in shock! I put the ring on her finger. Took photos.. and a live band came and sang to us!! I was so happy!!
So, from then on.. we started to plan out wedding. Saved for it... stage by stage.
